Babysitterin übt Malen und Schreiben mit einem Mädchen

Multilingualism in families: Immersion, mother tongue and conscious language use – this presentation shows how several languages grow together in everyday life.

Supporting a child's bilingual or multilingual development is enriching, but it also raises questions and uncertainties. In this webinar, we'll explore how the immersion principle works in theory and practice, the crucial role of the mother tongue for security and learning, and how to effectively integrate multiple languages into everyday life. Parents will receive suggestions on how to foster a relaxed approach to language, how to establish clear agreements about which language will be used when (depending on what works best for them), and how to create a supportive environment for multilingualism without pressure, but with a focus on shared discovery. The aim is to encourage parents, provide practical examples, and demonstrate ways to successfully integrate multiple languages and, consequently, cultures into daily life.
